FAQs

Q. WHO ARE YOUR CLIENTS?

A. Most of my clients are entrepreneurs, and creatives doing purpose-driven, service-based work: coaches, therapists, consultants, personal chefs, bakers, caterers, writers, educators, activists, artists, musicians, and more. Most of my clients are independent service-providers, small startups, and solo-entrepreneurs who have been in business for a few years and are ready to upgrade their brand so it reflects the evolution of their business. I also work with individuals who are working on personal or professional projects that require them to have an online presence.

Q. WHAT IF I WANT TO HIRE YOU FOR ALL THREE SERVICES? DO YOU HAVE A PACKAGE DEAL?

A. Fantastic! I love working on the whole project from soup to nuts. If you know from the outset that you’re interested in hiring me for messaging, copywriting, and design services, I do offer a package deal and a discount. Also, if you end up deciding after completing one or two services that you want to go all-in with the remaining one, package deal rates will apply, but not the additional discount.

Q. DO YOU DESIGN SITES USING WIX, WORDPRESS, SHOWIT, OR OTHER PLATFORMS?

A. No. For small solo entrepreneurs, I am a HUGE fan of Squarespace. It’s very intuitive and user friendly, which makes it easy for you to learn how to maintain and update your site on your own after we’re done. Plus, their customer support is excellent. And, as a member of Squarespace Circle, I’m able to extend a discount to you on your first year of your Squarespace subscription.

Q. IS COPYWRITING INCLUDED AS PART OF EITHER THE MESSAGING OR THE WEB DESIGN PACKAGES?

A. No, custom copywriting isn’t included, although I can provide guidelines and templates and assist you in planning what content goes where. I’m happy to give feedback, and I also offer an add-on content planning and copywriting service to either package for an additional cost, which we’ll determine based on your needs.

Q. ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN OR ADDITIONAL COSTS?

A. If you are hiring me to design your website, you will also need to pay Squarespace a small monthly or annual rate to host your site and for all the benefits that come along with using the platform (you would pay for hosting using almost any other platform). As a Squarespace Circle member, I have access to discounts, longer trial periods, and optimized support, and I extend those benefits to you. You may also choose to pay for your domain name (often as little as $12 a year), although Squarespace provides a free domain for a year as part of your subscription. If you choose any of my add-on services, like an extra session or two or copywriting, we’ll talk that over and negotiate an arrangement that works for you.

Q. I ALREADY HAVE A VISUAL BRAND IDENTITY I LIKE— WILL YOU BE ABLE TO BUILD MY WEBSITE USING IT?

A. In most cases, yes, but we should chat about that before we decide to work together. We’d start the website design process by assessing how your current brand aligns with your new vision for your site. In some cases, I may suggest that you’d be better off with an upgrade.

Q. I NEED A SUPER SIMPLE WEBSITE WITH VERY LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY. ARE YOU ABLE TO OFFER YOUR SERVICE AT A LESS EXPENSIVE PRICE?

A. It’s possible. If you are, for example, an artist or musician who needs a simple portfolio site or a one page place holder to get your bio and contact info online, we can definitely chat about a simpler, cheaper package. I’d love to hear from you.

Q. I’M JUST STARTING OUT. IS IT TOO SOON FOR ME TO INVEST IN YOUR SERVICES?

A. Congrats! There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this. If you only have a very foggy vision for what you’d like to create, investing in a professionally designed brand or website could be jumping the gun. But, if you have some clear plans and some idea of where you’re headed, I’d really recommend starting out with the Messaging Strategy & Brand Storytelling package. Clear and cohesive messaging acts as a compass and a foundation for your business and knowing what you stand for at the beginning of your journey will set you up to make smart, strategic choices and grow your business faster from the get go. And, of course, once you’re clear on your messaging and the general shape of your biz, a website would be a good next step.
